200 children.
50 meters of the Bulgarian tricolor.
Drums. Bagpipes.
And one child’s voice singing Bulgaria.

And for a moment, time seems to stand still.

Amid the colors of the flag, amid the rhythm of the drums and the sound of the bagpipes, a voice rises.

Childlike. Pure. Genuine.

A voice in which the memory of a nation lives.

A voice that takes us back to those who dreamed of a free Bulgaria. To the heroes who gave their lives so that today we can live beneath a free sky and under a free Bulgarian flag.

Bulgaria through the eyes of children

In the eyes of these 200 children, I saw Bulgaria as we all want it to be – united, proud, and filled with hope.

Because the homeland is not just land.

It is not just history.

It is not just a flag.

The homeland is the memory we preserve.
The values we pass on.
The love we leave behind.

Where the future lives

Today, we often speak about the future of Bulgaria.

We look for it in institutions, in policies, in statistics.

Yet it was right there before us – in the smiles of these children, in their songs, in their excitement and pride.

That is where the future is.

In the children who know the national anthem.

In the children who proudly wear traditional Bulgarian costumes.

In the children who feel that being Bulgarian is not merely an identity, but an honor.

As long as there are children

As long as there are children’s voices singing about Bulgaria, I will not fear tomorrow.

As long as there are hearts that tremble at the sight of the Bulgarian flag, memory will live on.

As long as there are children who carry Bulgaria in their souls, Bulgaria will endure.

Happy March 3rd!

Let us remember that freedom is never a given.

It is a sacred legacy.
It is a responsibility.
It is a duty to the past and a promise to the future.

Let us be worthy of those who entrusted it to us.

And let us leave our children a Bulgaria they can be proud of.

P.S.

This project brought together 200 children around a 50-meter Bulgarian tricolor. It was realized with the support of students, choreographers, musicians, and teachers from Sava Dobroplodni Secondary School.

The flag was sewn by Feri and will be donated to the Municipality of Shumen as a symbol of unity, patriotism, and continuity between generations.

Bulgaria is not only the past. Bulgaria is also the future growing before our eyes.
